Fairfield County Auditor, Dr. Carri L. Brown, introduced the Auditor’s Office Code of Conduct to Fairfield County Elected Officials on Tuesday. The Code of Conduct is a result of collaboration between all Auditor’s Office employees. It contains three main principles essential for success in the office.

The Fairfield County Auditor’s Office will be accepting dog tag licensing applications and renewals December 1, 2023, through January 31, 2024. The office will be hosting a virtual dog show on its website during this time.

Fairfield County Auditor to Host Free Real Estate Summit “Serving Those Who Have Served” with 2.5 hours of Continuing Education
The Fairfield County Auditor’s Office is pleased to announce the office will be hosting a Real Estate Summit titled “Serving Those Who Have Served.” This summit is focused on equipping real estate professionals and others with tools needed to serve Veterans. The Ohio Department of Commerce has approved 2.5 hours of continuing education for real estate and professional licensing.

Fairfield County Auditor Celebrates GIS Day
The Fairfield County Auditor’s Office is pleased to announce GIS Day, Wednesday, November 15. In honor of GIS Day, the GIS team will be hosting a virtual meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15th. The purpose of this meeting is for stakeholders to meet the staff, learn about new resources, and get caught up on current and future projects.

Fairfield County Auditor Releases 2023 Year in Review
The Fairfield County Auditor’s Office has released its 2023 Year in Review fact sheet. This fact sheet highlights projects and services provided throughout the year. The first page serves as a snapshot or “by the numbers” overview to give context while the second page focuses on the office’s strategic plan. Each of five strategic themes are summarized. Goals, accomplishments, training/development, and some awards received are noted.

County Auditor’s Office Releases Fact Sheets for November 2023 General Election Property Tax Levy Issues
The Fairfield County Auditor’s Office has fact sheets for the property tax levies proposed for the November 7, 2023, general election ballot. The three property tax issues proposed include two county wide issues, for the Fairfield County District Library and Senior Citizen Services (known as Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County). There is also a proposed road and bridge levy for Clearcreek Township.
- The Fairfield County District Library is proposing a .50 mill replacement levy on the ballot.
- The proposed Senior Citizens Levy is a .80 mill replacement levy.
- Clearcreek Township proposes a 1.0 mill renewal with an increase levy for road and bridge improvements.
Dr. Carri L. Brown, County Auditor, stated, “The fact sheets provide information about the current state of the levies and the proposed state, from individual and entity-wide perspectives.”
These fact sheets do not provide a position, such as voting “yes” or “no” on a levy; rather, the fact sheets inform voters on how a levy will impact them from a financial point of view.

Fairfield County Auditor’s Office Releases Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Fairfield County Auditor, Dr. Carri L. Brown, announced today the release of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for Fairfield County, Ohio. The report covers the financial activity of the county through December 31, 2022, The electronic version is identical to the printed version.
County Auditor Announces New Electronic Option for the Pre-Approval of Legal Descriptions
The Fairfield County Auditor’s Office is excited to announce new technology for the public. There is now an electronic option (with Simplifile) to submit, receive feedback, and make corrections for citizens who prefer to obtain pre-approval of a legal description of property. Pre-approval (prior to signing a deed) can help avoid the need for corrections and make things more efficient. Legal descriptions ultimately must be approved by the County Auditor’s Map Room prior to the conveyance of property.

Delinquent Vacant Land Tax Notice
The delinquent vacant lands, lots, and parts of lots returned delinquent by the Treasurer of Fairfield County, with the taxes, assessments, interest, and penalties charged thereon agreeable to law, and remaining delinquent for at least one year and are unimproved by any dwelling, ORC Section 5721.01(A)(2).

Final Vacant Land Notice to Taxpayers
In compliance with Ohio Revised code Section 5721.03, there will be published on the Fairfield County Auditor’s website on October 5th a list of those persons owning vacant lands that are unimproved by any dwelling and have remained unpaid for at least one year after being certified delinquent. The vacant lands on said list are subject to foreclosure proceedings as provided in section 323.25, sections 323.65 to 323.79, or section 5721.18 of the Revised Code, or foreclosure and forfeiture proceedings as provided in section5721.14 of the Revised Code.

Auditor’s Office Announces Tax Incentive Review Council Meetings Completed for 2023
As of June 29, 2023, all Tax Incentive Review Council Meetings for Fairfield County have been held. There were five meetings held this year for the following entities: Fairfield County, City of Canal Winchester, City of Lancaster, City of Pickerington, and the City of Reynoldsburg.

Auditor’s Office Employees Participate in Inaugural Ohio University Women’s Leadership Summit
Congratulations to Rachel Elsea and Angel Horn, County Auditor representatives for the Ohio University Women’s Leadership Summit. Mrs. Elsea and Mrs. Horn participated in a cohort of 50 women (including some from Fairfield County Developmental Disabilities and Job and Family Services) in a 5-session program that began in February and concluded in May.

A Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) deadline is quickly approaching. The deadline to file an initial or renewal application is Monday, March 6th. As of Friday, February 24, 2023, over 75% of property owners in the CAUV program have returned their applications.
