DUTIES OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
The prosecuting attorney has a variety of duties and responsibilities under Ohio law. First and foremost, the prosecuting attorney is charged with prosecuting crimes that occur within the county and seeking justice for victims. This includes not only adult offenders, but also juvenile delinquency, truancy, and traffic cases. The prosecuting attorney also represents Fairfield County Child Protective Services in all complaints alleging the abuse, neglect, or dependency of children. In addition, the prosecuting attorney advises and counsels the elected officials and department heads serving Fairfield County, including the board of county commissioners, board of elections, auditor, treasurer, engineer, township trustees, and various other county officers, boards, and commissions.
